Poll Finds Widespread Support for Cutting Fuel Excise, Concerns About Lack of Long Term Plan

Morgan Hancock/Getty ImagesThe federal government’s decision to halve the fuel excise tax, reducing the cost of a litre of petrol by around 26.3 cents, has received widespread approval from the Australian public.A new SMS poll from Roy Morgan shows 83 percent approve of the Albanese government’s temporary measure, with 17 percent disapproving. It was conducted between March 26 and April 1, questioning about 2,500 Australians aged 18 or older.
