US Releases Details of Nuclear-Powered Submarine Plan With South Korea

South Korean Defense Ministry via Getty ImagesThe White House released a statement on Nov. 13 outlining the details of the agreement the United States and South Korea made at their summits in August and October to collaborate on constructing commercial and naval vessels including nuclear-powered submarines, an issue that China voiced concern over.“The United States welcomed the ROK’s commitment to contribute to modernizing and expanding the capacity of American shipbuilding industries, including through investments in U.S. shipyards and America’s workforce,” said a joint fact sheet that the White House issued.  The Republic of Korea (ROK) is South Korea’s official name.
