Rivian to Recall Over 17,000 Vehicles Over Headlight Issue

Date:

Rivian said on Friday it is recalling 17,260 vehicles in the United States due to a headlight issue that could reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash.

The recall affects certain 2025 R1S SUV and R1T pickup truck vehicles, the company said in a report with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The headlight low beam may fail to illuminate when starting the vehicle in cold weather. To fix the issue, the company said it would replace the headlight control modules at no cost to customers.

The control modules manage the operation of vehicle’s headlights, including the activation of low and high beams to ensure proper illumination based on driving conditions.

Rivian is not aware of any accidents or injuries as a result of this condition, the company said.

Certain vehicles were equipped with headlamps that did not meet the intended product features due to incorrectly configured parts from the supplier, the company said.

The issue was identified in vehicles manufactured between April 29, 2024 and Feb. 3, 2025.

The company on Thursday projected a surprise drop in electric vehicle deliveries for 2025, but said it expected to post a modest gross profit, as it slashed raw material and supply chain costs in its drive for efficiency.
