Poilievre Says Carney Removing Counter-Tariffs on US Is a ‘Another Capitulation’

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre says the Carney government is not getting a good deal for Canada, as it is dropping the counter-tariffs on the United States but getting “nothing in return.”

“Today, we learn that it is yet another capitulation and climbdown by Mark Carney. His elbows have mysteriously gone missing,” Poilievre said during an Aug. 22 press conference, making a reference to Prime Minister Mark Carney’s election-time campaign messaging drawing on a the hockey metaphor “elbows up.”
