Date:

A federal program designed to get more women into the trades saw a number of men who self-identified as female admitted, a program evaluation report says.

The Apprenticeship Incentive Grant for Women (AIG-W) program was launched in 2018, and offered up to $8,000 in total grant money to female apprentices in eligible Red Seal trades where women were deemed “underrepresented.” Similar apprenticeship grants offered to men had a lifetime limit of $4,000 in combined grant money.
