The 2-year-old male tiger was kept in an enclosure with a dirt floor, no access to water, and was fed chicken scraps, authorities said.

Mexican authorities seized a tiger in poor condition on Wednesday at an auto parts lot in Ciudad Juárez, the city across the U.S. border from El Paso, Texas.

“The animal, a young male approximately two years old, was found in a makeshift enclosure with a dirt floor, no water available, and fed chicken remains,” according to the Federal Attorney General’s Office for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA).
