President of the European Union Council, António Costa, said that the EU had “turned the page” with President Donald Trump, in remarks reported on Monday.

The European Council defines the EU’s overall political direction and priorities; it does not, however, negotiate or adopt the laws that govern the bloc, with those duties falling to the European Commission (EC) and European Parliament.
