The Teva-Pregabalin 150 mg capsules that are being recalled were first sold in Canada in September 2025 and have an expiration date of July 31, 2027. The recall was announced on Aug. 17, 2026. Teva CanadaDrug manufacturer Teva Canada Ltd. is recalling two lots of its Teva-Pregabalin 150-milligram capsules after routine testing identified that some pills could be contaminated with the drug sertraline.The two lots affected by the recall are 100070495 (100-capsule bottle) and 100068913 (500-capsule bottle), which were first sold in Canada in September 2025 and expire on July 31, 2027.“Patients with a hypersensitivity or allergy to sertraline could experience side effects or have a serious allergic reaction, including an anaphylactic reaction, even at a low exposure,” Health Canada said in a recall notice.Anaphylactic reaction symptoms can be fatal and may include shortness of breath, wheezing, or difficulty breathing; swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat; uncontrolled shaking, fainting, or dizziness; trouble swallowing or speaking; and widespread rash or hives.Health Canada noted that pregabalin is a prescription drug used in adults to treat pain caused by nerve damage due to diabetes, shingles, or spinal cord injury. It is also used to treat pain associated with fibromyalgia.Meanwhile, sertraline is a prescription drug used in adults to relieve symptoms of depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and panic disorder. Side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, sleep changes, dizziness, tremors, or increased sweating.“Health Canada is monitoring the company’s recall and implementation of corrective and preventive actions,” the organization said.Health Canada said that if people experience a serious allergic reaction, they should stop taking the affected product and call 911 immediately. Otherwise, people should not stop taking their pregabalin medication without first speaking to a healthcare professional or pharmacist, since stopping suddenly could cause withdrawal symptoms.The agency added that anyone with products from the above-mentioned lots should return them to a pharmacy as soon as possible for either replacement or an alternative supply.In its own notice, Toronto-based Teva Canada said the recall was a precautionary measure, while it was notifying distributors, retailers, and healthcare professionals of the recall and facilitating the return of affected product.
