Dow Jones Falls 600 Points as Trumps Greenland Pursuits Take Center Stage

Angela Weiss / AFP via Getty ImagesU.S. stocks plunged as investors returned from the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend, with President Donald Trump’s pursuit of a U.S. acquisition of Greenland taking center stage on Wall Street.The blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by about 600 points, or 1.3 percent, at 9:45 a.m. on Jan. 20. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index declined by about  380 points, or 1.6 percent. The broader S&P 500 Index fell by nearly 100 points, or 1.3 percent.
