Counter-Tariffs on US Raised Prices on Impacted Goods by 6 Percent: Bank of Canada

The Canadian Press/Adrian WyldA new Bank of Canada report estimates that prices for goods hit by the counter-tariffs Canada place on the United States rose about 6 percent more than non-tariffed goods in 2025.The May 6 report said prices for goods subject to counter-tariffs increased compared to non-tariffed goods, but the effect disappeared roughly three months after Canada removed most of its counter-tariffs.
