Under the direct command of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Xi Jinping, China’s state apparatus sharply escalated its transnational suppression of Chinese dissidents living in the United States beginning in the spring of 2024, employing methods such as bomb threats, arson threats, and disinformation, alongside legal harassment and media attacks.
In a recent interview with The Epoch Times, Feng Chongyi, an associate professor of China studies at the University of Technology Sydney, said it’s unsurprising that the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong—launched in 1999 and ongoing for more than two decades—has now extended overseas.
