Canada Moves to Allow Single-Use Plastics Production for Export to US, Keeps Domestic Ban

The Canadian Press/Justin TangThe federal government has issued legal notice of its plan to lift the export prohibition on single-use plastics, primarily destined for the United States, saying the ban does not deliver enough environmental benefit to justify its economic costs.The environment department on Dec. 20 provided notice of proposed amendments to the single-use plastics prohibition regulations that would lift the ban on the production, import, and sale of single-use plastics for export, while maintaining domestic restrictions.
