Britains New Spy Chief Warns of Aggressive, Expansionist, And Revisionist Russia

Chris Ratcliffe/Getty ImagesBritain’s new intelligence chief warned on Dec. 15 that the United Kingdom is operating in an era where “the front line is everywhere,” as she set out an assessment of global threats and described Russia as an “aggressive, expansionist, and revisionist” power determined to export instability across Europe and beyond.Blaise Metreweli, who recently became head of the Secret Intelligence Service—commonly known as MI6—said that Russia’s campaign against Ukraine and its wider hybrid operations pose an acute and enduring danger to Britain and its allies, according to a preview of her first public speech released by the British government.
