An Ontario court has ruled that the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) acted outside its jurisdiction when it disbanded a parent council last year and called for new elections roughly two months after the council was elected.

The original election happened at Rawlinson Community School in September 2024, but the parent council was disbanded by TDSB superintendent John Currie in December 2024 so a new election could be held, according to a written decision by Ontario Superior Court of Justice Judge Mario D. Faieta.
