The concept of using quantum batteries in day-to-day applications has moved a step closer to reality.
Researchers from RMIT University in Melbourne and CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency, have discovered a method to significantly extend their lifetime, allowing the batteries to function 1,000 times longer than previous demonstrations.
