75 Percent of New and Potential Homeowners Fear Insurance Becoming Unaffordable: Survey

Date:

In addition to the continual rise in home costs nationally, 75 percent of Americans surveyed by Realtor.com now admit they fear their homeowners insurance will soon become unaffordable. Some say they are at the point where they may be forced to forgo insurance altogether.

In the recent survey, which questioned 1,000 new and would-be homeowners 18 years and older and was conducted Aug. 7–8, Realtor.com also discovered that 88 percent believe they’ll be paying higher premiums for homeowners insurance in the near future, and 42 percent have already confirmed an increase in annual costs.
