Lemuria did not belong only to those who walked the land.
Some walked the Earth and nurtured its plants, tending the living world around them.
There were also those who first swam the waters.
The first merpeople here were the weavers of the deep. Among them were the first shapeshifters—those who could change their form and walk upon the land, too.
They created villages near the water and lived between both worlds, moving from sea to shore and back again.
Then the great strikes came.
Their lands were decimated. Their people were scattered. Many withdrew into the Inner Earth or moved into higher realms—but not everyone could reach safety in time.
Those who remained called to the animals.
They called to Bear.
To Wolf.
To Crow and the birds.
The animals gave their skins and feathers so the children of Lemuria could take their forms and hide among the forests and wild places of the Earth.
Some of these relationships became even deeper.
The Lemurians and the animal nations intermingled, carrying these gifts forward within their blood and genes. 
Along the Pacific coast of Northern California were the people of the Bear.
Farther north were the people of the Wolf and Crow.
Farther north still were the people of the Orca—still carrying the ancient memory of the waters.
Then others came.
Because of them, these gifts began to fade from the bloodlines and from human memory.
But fading is not the same as disappearing.
That is a story for another time…
Perhaps you carry some of this within your own blood and memory.
Perhaps it comes to you through visions or dreams.
Perhaps there is an animal you have felt connected to for as long as you can remember—not simply as a guide, but as something deeply familiar.
