A top French prosecutor has expanded a criminal investigation into Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, over allegations that the company’s algorithms led to “foreign interference.”

In a statement released on July 11, Magistrate Laure Beccuau with the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office wrote that it referred an earlier investigation to the General Directorate of the National Gendarmerie, a French police force, in the past week to enhance an investigation into X.
