EU Advances US Trade Deal Ahead of Trumps July Deadline

Andrew Harnik/Getty ImagesEuropean lawmakers reached a provisional agreement on May 20 to remove import ​duties on U.S. goods, ahead of President Donald Trump’s July 4 tariff deadline for the bloc to implement its trade-deal commitments.The move brings the EU closer to implementing tariff elements of the U.S.–EU trade framework agreement agreed politically at Trump’s Turnberry resort in Scotland in July 2025 and detailed in an Aug. 21, 2025, joint statement.
