President Donald Trump has launched a sweeping tariff agenda since taking office, kickstarting an effort to reset trade relations with most countries.

The tariffs, he says, are meant to get the country back on an even playing field with trading partners that have for years put up barriers on goods from the United States.

His 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs in April has led to trade negotiations with scores of nations.

Separately, the United States and China entered a trade truce in May, agreeing to slash tariffs on each other for 90 days while talks continue.

Below is an overview of the status of the president’s tariff initiatives.
