Federal Labor MP Arrested Over Assault Allegations

Hilary Wardhaugh/Getty ImagesFederal Labor MP Luke Gosling has been arrested by Northern Territory (NT) police over an alleged assault.Gosling, the member for the Darwin-based seat of Solomon, was arrested on Thursday over the alleged assault of NT Administrator David Connolly earlier in July.“Investigations began last week and police arrested the 54-year-old earlier this morning and he remains in custody,” NT Police said in a statement.The incident was alleged to have happened at the NT Thailand Grand Festival in Darwin.The NT administrator is a position similar to a state governor and Connolly was sworn into the role in February.Gosling, a retired army officer, has represented Solomon since 2016.By Andrew Brown in Canberra.
