Costco announced a recall of Kirkland Signature Prosecco Valdobbiadene wine because unopened bottles may shatter even when they are not handled or in use, according to a notice the company sent to members.

The recall affects bottles sold between April 25 and Aug. 26. The private-label wine, produced in Valdobbiadene, Italy, was sold in 12 states: Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
