France has summoned U.S. ambassador Charles Kushner over an open letter that he wrote to French President Emmanuel Macron, accusing his government of inadequate efforts to tackle anti-Semitism in the country.

In a letter published on Aug. 24 in the Wall Street Journal, Kushner voiced “deep concern” over what he described as the “lack of sufficient action” by the French government to address the “dramatic rise of antisemitism in France” amid the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.
