Housing Inventory Experiences ‘Dramatic Shift’ in Some US States, Report Finds

A new report from Realtor.com lists America’s top 10 states where housing inventory is showing a significant increase since 2024. Six western states—Nevada, California, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, and New Mexico—are among those top contenders. Maryland, North Carolina, South Dakota, and Virginia complete the list.

Ranked No. 1, Nevada experienced a 52.9 percent year-over-year increase in the number of homes on the market.
