A Tribute to Grant “Pace” Gordon

When God Calls Out Your Name

By Jim Canie, aka “Jimmy Canine”

One day a man emerged.
He had a massive heart.
He came out of the blue.
It was only just the start.

Freedom was his calling.
It was surely meant to be.
He was chosen as a messenger.
For all that could not see.

It wasn’t a coincidence.
The friends that he would meet.
The memories he created.
Was really quite the feat.

He travelled about the land.
With Phil right by his side.
Together they would venture.
To places far and wide.

DRUTHERS was the tool.
The message he would share.
The places he would travel.
He did without a care.

We all did get to know him.
In each our little way.
The things that we’ll remember.
Will be cherished everyday.

He had that laugh. A Woody kind.
The kind you can’t forget.
We hear him now above us.
Oh Lord it’s in my head.

And then it came. The dreaded call.
That Grant was going home.
His work on Earth was finished.
And now he’s not alone.

His legacy … to be continued.
His work has just begun.
And now he has another task.
He was a chosen one.

So when we think of Grant my friends,
Think of all the fun.
Think of all the memories.
His work is far from done.

Gone but not forgotten.
His memory will live on.
Chosen for this purpose.
Freedom was his song.

There is no rhyme or reason.
It will never be the same.
It is not ours to wonder.
When God calls out your name.
