Airline Association Chief Says Suppliers of Scarce Sustainable Jet Fuel Are Profiteering

Date:

EU rules require 2 percent of fuel at EU airports to consist of sustainable aviation fuel this year, rising to 6 percent in 2030, and 70 percent in 2050.

The head of the world’s top airline trade association has said suppliers of sustainable aviation fuel are profiteering from the scarce fuel.

Governments are increasingly forcing a shift from conventional jet fuel to sustainable fuel made from waste and non-food crops, but according to the industry, these mandates have effectively doubled sustainable aviation fuel prices in Europe.
